The basic Calm breathing pattern (4-4-6) is free. Premium unlocks two additional patterns — Box breathing (4-4-4-4, great for focus) and Deep breathing (4-7-8, great for anxiety) — plus 9 background sounds that play during the exercise: Rain, Ocean, Forest, Fire, Piano, Guitar, Melody, Soft noise and Deep noise. Soft noise and Deep noise are steady, gentle sounds that many children find calming, and can help with sleep too.
The preset durations (1, 2, 5, 10, 15, 30 minutes) are free. Premium lets you set any custom duration up to 180 minutes and save a favourite that loads automatically next time you open the timer.
Folders are a Premium feature that groups related buttons together so the main board stays clean and easy to navigate. For example, instead of many individual drink buttons, you create a "Drinks" folder. The user taps the folder, sees Water, Milk, Juice etc inside, then taps one — that word speaks and goes into the sentence bar.
The folder itself never speaks — only the buttons inside it do.
To set up a folder: Go to Edit mode → tap an ADD slot → choose "Create a folder" → pick an emoji and name it → tap Create → immediately add buttons inside.
Aidova also offers 5 ready-made starter folders (Drinks, Food, Family, Activities, Places) that you can add in one tap.
Premium: up to 5 buttons per folder · Premium Plus: up to 15 buttons per folder, plus your own photos on folder buttons.
Yes, with Premium Plus. You can use your own photos on custom buttons and on folder buttons, for example a photo of Mum, the family dog, or a favourite cup. Real photos can be easier to recognise than emoji for some children.
To add a photo: Go to Edit mode → tap an ADD slot → choose your own photo instead of an emoji → give it a name → Save.
Premium includes custom buttons with emoji (choose from over 1,400), but not your own photos. Free includes 1 custom emoji button to try.
Your photos stay on your device and are never uploaded anywhere.
Yes, with Premium. You can record your own voice on any button, including the built-in ones. Recordings can be up to 5 seconds, so you can say a word in two languages, for example "Water... su".
To record: Go to Settings → Edit layout → press and hold any button until a menu appears → tap "Record my voice" → tap the microphone, speak, tap Preview, then Save.
From the same menu you can play your recording, re-record it, or switch the button back to the app voice.
This is a Premium feature. Go to Settings → Print / Export Board → tap "Export current category as PDF" to generate a printable PDF of the current board, handy for school or hospital visits.
Settings → Word Report (Premium Plus). Shows the last 40 words tapped with weekly counts and a frequency bar.
The Recent tab shows words in the order they were tapped — useful for seeing what your child communicated today. The Top Words tab ranks by how often each word was tapped this week — useful for deciding which words to promote to permanent custom buttons or sharing with a speech therapist.

Smart Suggestions is a Premium Plus feature. In Edit layout mode, Aidova gently suggests adding a word your child uses often as a permanent custom button. To see which words are used most, open Settings → Word Report (see above). Everything stays entirely on your device and is never sent anywhere.
